Handdyed yarn in lovely soft alpaca/silk.

Lace Alpaca/silk combines the best of two fantastic fibers; a blend of baby suri alpaca for strength and softness, and silk for shine. The yarn fibers are untreated, which means that they are only washed and not subjected to chemical treatment. This best highlights the yarn's natural properties. Lace alpaca / silk can be used in the same way as Lace mohair / silk, so it can be knitted as a companion thread, alone or with several threads. It is extra gentle on the skin; cooling when it is hot and warming when it is cold.

The yarn is thin, so very economical in use. The yarn is well suited for both ego knitting and children's knitting. Brushed alpaca is not recommended for children under 1 year (applies to all "puffy" yarns).

Please note that the actual product color may vary from the visual representation on this website. There may also be variations in different dyelots. It is therefore recommended to buy enough yarn for your project in one order.

Brushed alpaca is not recommended for children under 1 year (applies to all "puffy" yarns), because the child can get the tiny fibers in the mouth / throat.

Advice when knitting with hand-dyed yarn

Hand-dyed yarn, as the name suggests, is a craft, and there will be differences between skeins. There are a few things that might be good to know before you get started:

There is different ways of using skeins, however when knitting garments, we recommend, as good practice, alternating skeins, it’s not usually essential but it does help to spread colours evenly. The Helix method is our favourite technique when knitting in the round. The more colorvariety in the yarn, the more important. This is explained nicely when knitting in the round in this video, and when you knit back and forth in this video.

If you don't want to knit every other round from different skeins (this is done at your own risk 😉), it is recommended to do this a few rounds when changing yarn. This applies regardless of the color of the yarn.

We want you to get the best possible result on the knitwear you spend a lot of time and resources on. 🥰

Wash and care of garments knitted in hand-dyed yarn

We recommend hand washing followed by a quick spin, or wool wash program temperature 30°C/86°F if you trust your washing machine. Use ONLY detergent intended for wool/silk (Milo or such). Feel free to add a little clear vinegar - this helps preserve the colors. Do not soak the garment.

Please note that the yarn may contain excess colour. Therefore, wash separately the first time.

All knitted garments should be stored flat.
