Midnight Rambler
Vams is a 2-strand carding yarn made of 100% Norwegian wool. This is our most voluminous wool yarn, which gives easily knitted garments and is therefore a good start for new knitters or for the impatient. The clothes become soft, warm and full. Vams is well suited for felting. Please note that bleached and black yarn are not suitable for felting. It also happens that different colors give different results. Yarn qualities in 100% wool provide garments that warm and breathe even in damp conditions. This makes the garments excellent for trips and activities, as well as for everyday use.
Vams is produced at Rauma Garn's factory in beautiful Romsdalen. Here they card, twist, spin, wash, dye and skein the yarn from 100% Norwegian wool. This is an all-Norwegian product!
Norwegian wool is particularly characterized by good wear resistance, resilience and elasticity. Spun as carded yarn, wool provides the ideal balance between functionality and comfort. The result is light, airy and user-friendly garments with a long lifespan.
Unikt Garn has been allowed to put our own stamp on this wonderful yarn with our unique colors and compositions. We dye with acid dyes , which is gentle on the environment and gives clear, very durable colours.

Hand-dyed yarn, as the name suggests, is a craft, and there will be differences between skeins. There are a few things that might be good to know before you get started:
There is different ways of using skeins, however when knitting garments, we recommend, as good practice, alternating skeins, it’s not usually essential but it does help to spread colours evenly. The Helix method is our favourite technique when knitting in the round. The more colorvariety in the yarn, the more important. This is explained nicely when knitting in the round in this video, and when you knit back and forth in this video.
If you don't want to knit every other round from different skeins (this is done at your own risk 😉), it is recommended to do this a few rounds when changing yarn. This applies regardless of the color of the yarn.
We want you to get the best possible result on the knitwear you spend a lot of time and resources on. 🥰
We recommend hand washing followed by a quick spin, or wool wash program temperature 30°C/86°F if you trust your washing machine. Use ONLY detergent intended for wool/silk (Milo or such). Feel free to add a little clear vinegar - this helps preserve the colors. Do not soak the garment.
Please note that the yarn may contain excess colour. Therefore, wash separately the first time.
All knitted garments should be stored flat.
